Belsyre Garage, Oxford, 2024
The garage was the subject, the material and the frame of the drawings.
These works, made of used car oil on tissue paper, emerged as I took impressions of the garage’s signage and surfaces and disappeared as the oil spread across the paper.
This project was part of our research group activities and took place at a disused car showroom in the centre of Oxford.
Transformative Matter, Material Trace, the Drawing Research Group at Arts University Bournemouth is led by Professor of Drawing, Siân Bowen and brings together twenty members from Fine Art, Illustration, Animation and Makeup for Media and Performance at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) along with invited external researchers. These members include academic and technical staff, PhD students, AUB alumni and guest researchers, all of whom engage in practice-based research relating to innovative approaches to drawing.
